There is a great deal of activity at JES, once school is over for the day.  Four discreet after- school programs operate at our facility.  To learn more about each, click on the links below.

BEYOND THE BELL (BTB) is a "full service", licensed, for-fee after-school and summer child care center operated by the school.  (The school has assumed responsibility for operating the former JASP child care center housed at the school.) BTB operates Monday through Friday until 6:00 p.m., on school days, as well as full-time for six weeks in the summer. When REACH (see below) is in session, REACH and Beyond the Bell merge into one program, with all BTB students participating in a REACH enrichment activity.  Erika Magoon is the BTB Coordinator.

REACH is the school's after-school enrichment program, offering a variety of thematic activities, as well as supervised study hall, for students in grades 1 to 6.  REACH operates until 4:30 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday.  The program's lead teacher/coordinator is Enrichment Teacher Jean Feeney, and core program staff include Music/Band Teacher Melissa Greenwood, P.E. Teacher Mark Guider, Librarian Deb Onegow, and Technology Coordinator Charlie Cavanaugh. As noted above, when REACH is in session, all BTB enrollees join a REACH activity, along with other students who enroll only in REACH. 

STEP-UP is a literacy and math tutoring program providing individual tutoring for students in grades 2 to 4 needing extra practice and assistance. Participation is mainly by invitation, with students being selected based on several different indicators that they are falling behind in reading and math skills.  STEP-UP operates Tuesday through Friday afternoons until 4:30.  The Step-Up Coordinator is Mrs. Dupray.

MATH MANIA CLUB is a math tutoring/enrichment program program providing extra help in math for students in grades 5 and 6. Participation is by invitation, with students being selected based on several different indicators that they are falling behind in math skills.  Math Mania operates Wednesday and Friday afternoons until 4:30.  The Math Mania Coordinator is Mrs. Feeney.
